28 Feb

We went to Marysville for the Chinese Celebration...bong hey fat choy...of their new years. If you know anything of California history, 1840's you remember that the Chinese had a HUGE presence here during the gold rush. This presence remains with many towns having a Chinatown area. Marysville has alot of museums of Chinese heritage. This parade is a bit different than most, as they believe that the bad spirits are scared of noise, so to usher in good you must scare the bad fireworks go off pretty much the entire parade...even as the Shriners go flying by in their weird little go-carts and old men. Strange parade. We saw it, and honestly I don't think we would ever go back to see it again. This is the New dragon! Pretty ain't it?
