We have eggs! Yes, we do...plural!!

Six am, I open the top and here it is...

Can you see it!??! oh what joy!!! Anna was the first up so she received the honor to pick it up!  We waited for the other 3 to wake up and Anna scooped it up with all excitement she could muster!
(blinker blinker) change of subject-I am walking in the morning before school (yeah we are doing math and grammar thru the summer, and chicken as science).  We had explained to the numerous neighborhood children, as they like to ring the doorbell, and forget we are still in school.  I told Anna we needed to make a sign...so my daughter made one:
This is a HUGE joke in our house, due to a comedian named Kathleen Madigan, who talks about Rednecks and "we don't need no book learning"...as homeschoolers we do have some obscure questions and my kids like to do the dumb redneck speech...just to cause folks to ponder...weird little kids! hahah  Look at my proud, redneck, anti-social homeschool child!
Back to your normally scheduled blog about chickens:

Remember this awesome woman? She is the one we met in the parking lot to pick up the two wild (free range) hens from yesterday.  Today, her sister (our dear friend, LIsa) called and said, I have two more chickens! oh we were excited...Janeice knows so much, she is like have an encyclopedia teach but with fun stories.  I told her we need to have her come once a week and teach science by Janeice...cause it is fun!!
She brought two more hens, they are a year older than those from yesterday and hand trained and sweet and cuddly.  Too cuddly for Eric, who held one and had chicken poop shoot out onto his shirt.  My clean freak boy was not amused, but he said he does like the chickens!
So we have 4 chickens, and Anna has named her's, Jaseniah, Abby's is Jalice, Gabe's is Jenny and Eric is holding out til he gets to know her better?
Tony had to fix the ramp for the chickens so they could get up it, and they liked it...but one was roosting down on the ground...and we found an egg down there about noon!  Abby had to go inside and get it! Very excited!

Then, we dropped Eric off at the library for his job! (insert proud momma beaming) He is helping with the summer reading program and has a t-shirt to wear (that the chicken pooped on, but we rewashed it).
Off we went to some pickups at Wal-mart and home to see yet one more egg!!!!! So 3 eggs in one day!
I am racing around trying to get a unit study together so we can learn and see! These chickens are amazing!

bawk-bawk-bawk they are here!!

oh they are here!!!
two of them...we met Janiece at the church parking lot to "pick up the chickens".  She lives in the hills away from Yuba City...she brought 2 wilder ones, they are bantam blackies and Rhode Island red mix.

They were not enjoying being in a cat carrier...but it was just a few more minutes, til they came to their new home with us!!

They both just popped right out of the carrier, and were not real amused.

The huddled and clucked and clucked some more...but they went in the roost, up on the bar...pooped everywhere..and even ate some left over broccoli!

They are quite happy in there new little home! Tomorrow, eggs?

Chat at CVD - Thursday! 6pm PST

I almost forgot to post this! EGADS!  Dear Frani is going to teach a how to class! It is free and the tips you will learn are wonderful! Come and babble if you are new to scrapping or have been scrappin' forever...it is fun to laugh with others and learning NEW things is fun with friends:
This is all happening at Creative Victorian Designs - Thursday - 6pm PST....

Fantasy layouts are really not my thing!

Okay, I like real things, I'm a meat and potatoes kinda girl.  Down home, heartland, flag waving American girl.  I have put wings on one of my daughters in a layout once...weirded me out!  I have never been into Sci-Fi.  I have seen exactly one Star Trek episode, Trouble with Tribbles, and thought they had to be filming under my bed.  I have watched the first Star Wars, and was frozen all they way thru it...all that dark black sky and high moving a/c in the theater in Napa, California. Okay, but I love Netta and her designs at Creative Victorian Designs.  Her team is hilarious on top of it, and we have Jenn on it, who is the master of Fantasy pages! Master!  So Netta did a series of Fantasy Realms, here are a few of the series:

So I played and played and Netta helped me with perspective and all.  I got a giggle, but here it is, Diva Maker!

The chickens have been delayed!

Just a quick update, the chickens can't make it here til Sunday or Monday...a collective bummed out sigh.

But I do have some fun pics of us getting our garden together:

I am very organized and I am not ashamed of this, mocked but not ashamed. ha ha...this is where the garden is going.  That grass has to come out, Abby and Eric are standing where the beans and cucumbers will go.  Gabriel is where the watermelons shall reside and the frog Anna is showing the other watermelon (we love watermelon) and the T's are for Tomatoes.

The kids are work-a-holics, they really thrive on this stuff:
The girls kinda helped the soil get holes in it, breaking up the grass roots...(and staying busy, telling me what they were doing) until the boys got some good chunks up.  Then the girls took those and transplanted those ones in the bare spots from the pool last year! We are country folks now!

I was amazed at these two boys, they worked and worked! They are like machines!
Our awesome across the street neighbor, Mr. V- volunteered his rototiller!  He came and rototilled twice!  That was awesome!

We started our beans, cucs, and watermelon from seed, the toms, peppers, and basil we bought plants!  It was fun to see them sprout and so quickly.

As we await, the chickens, I will get some pics of where the garden is now!  We are starting our compost pile this weekend also! We are dirt farmers!  Amazing stuff!

we are getting chickens! tomorrow!

It has been a slow and steady process to get here, but it is here.  When we first made the decision to homeschool, one of the things I wanted to do, was to get chickens. I kinda wanted to do the eggs, incubator, etc...but was petrified!  What to do with the things that come out of the eggs? uhm the chicks?  Lisa, (in the church) her sister has a ton of hens, and she is giving us 4 layers!
A few months back, I was on my way to Wal-Mart, and there on the side of the road was a 6 foot crate kinda looking thing....that in my mind looked like a chicken coop skeleton.  My poor hubby, he took the truck and Eric and they hauled this thing off the side of the road.
Then on the way to a curriculum sale for books, the kids and I noticed a big FREE sign. They had wood, and shopping carts and other fun things!  I once again called Tony...he is getting into it now!! So he went and got what he needed.
The boys got to work, helping, watching and fetching for Dad! Tony was really into it! He found an old stereo cabinet for the nesting box and was excited, cause the circles look so cool!
This is starting to look like a chicken coop!
I love this man, he is exhausted, doing 2 sermons a week, working crazy hours at Target and finds time to laugh at me while making a coop!

See the wheel from the shopping cart?  This makes the coop movable..there is no bottom.  The chickens scratch and eat the grass, then you move it, clean that area..and the bermuda grows back..well that  is the plan.  Our pool from last year, the grass came back...so this is gotta work!

Happy chicken coop building! The chickens (4) Huey, Dewey, Louie and Chewy come tomorrow. Tony did some fixing on the top, and it is ready to go, with hinges and all.  I will have pics of the chickens and the final coop soon!

Senger Revival

Oh the revival was awesome, we saw visitors, salvation, healing, and our awesome core of folks come EVERY night! I tell you I could just do back flips, okay, I can't really do back  flips...I wanted to share a few layouts of the week!
I love the picture of Lisa with her son, Leland and Joseph reading the scripture.  Wonderful lady and seeing her life blessed is amazing to watch.

Having Pastor John Foley and his awesome wife sing for us, oh my goodness. I can not tell you how honored and wonderful this was.  Pastor John Foley's father was my husbands very first Pastor, and the Foley family will forever have a special place in our hearts.  To top it off, Sophie is down right hilarious, and I stalk her daily so she will be my friend...and yesterday was her birthday!!! woo hoo
See that smiling little girl?  Her mom had rushed her to the clinic, because she had a fever, nasty green boogers and horrible cough the doc told her it was pneumonia.  We prayed for her, and that is her, all better!!
Having the Senger's here for our first (of many to come) really stirred our people, our children and us!  I love this family! Please pray for them in Lake Havisu City and all that God is going to do for them!
They are having a big ol' Children's Carnival in a few weeks, and your prayers are appreciated!  I was honored to make a flyer for them!
